Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading gives a natural “hair-like” stroke style for a softer look. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as the client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur. Not suitable for oily skin, large pores, or mature aged skin.

What is power/ombre brows?

Ombré/powder brows are created using a permanent makeup tattoo gun and provide a much fuller/shaded brow texture and look. Once healed, eyebrows will have a soft front, shaded body, and crisp tail, hence the “ombre.” If properly taken care of, ombre brows last between 2-3 years before a color boost is needed. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as the client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.

How long is the appointment?

Two and half hours on average for brows. Lips average three hours. Eyelash enhancement averages two hours. During your appointment, we will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. This includes mapping your shape, picking a color, style, and pre and post-care instructions to follow.

Is the follow-up appointment included?

In order to ensure that the brows heal perfectly, a minimum of two treatments are usually needed 8-12 weeks apart on average. The touch-up is a separate service with its own fee.

How long does microblading last?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Color boosts are recommended every 1.5-2 years to maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including:

  • Skin type (oily skin fades faster)
  • Pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)
  • Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)
  • Use of daily anti-aging products e.g. (Tretinoin (Retin-A) and Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo

Lip Blushing will last 2-4 years before a color boost is needed. Eyeliner will last 3-5 years before a color boost is needed.

Does it hurt?

We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Topical numbing Lidocaine 5% is used for pre-numb, and a secondary numbing is applied throughout the service as needed. (Please note that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)

Can I exercise after getting permanent cosmetics?

You must avoid working out for 7 days following your appointment. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant?

No. As a precaution to avoid any complications, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women.

What to Expect

  • Some swelling and redness
  • Pigment to change color throughout the healing process
  • Flaking or peeling of the skin/pigment but do not touch or pick!

Healed results will vary with each individual client and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. Additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results.

Once Healed

Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

Glycolic Acid, Retin-A, face peels, and exfoliation must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use could lighten the pigment.
